1Password for Windows app keeps requiring encryption key transfer

I have a business account that uses SSO for authentication. I am able to authenticate in the browser just fine and use the browser extension with no issues. When I sign in to the Windows app via SSO, I am asked to transfer the encryption key from my browser. I am able to do this successfully, but I keep having to transfer the key every day or two. Is there a way to prevent the encryption key transfer from happening or to get it to stop repeating?

I am having the same issue with the Windows 1Password app requiring the encryption key to be transferred from the 1Password iOS app on my iPhone. Every day or every other day, the Windows app automatically opens and requires me to sign in with Windows, then it requires me to transfer the encryption key from the iOS app. I have looked through every setting I can think of in both the Windows app and in the iOS app, but I can't find any setting relating to encryption keys.

Is this a bug?

It sounds like you may be experiencing a known issue our Development team are actively working on where the 1Password for Windows app will attempt an new SSO sign-in despite an existing account already being added in the app. I'd like ask you each to share a diagnostics report from the 1Password for Windows app with our support team via email to review your logs and confirm whether that is the case:

Send a diagnostics report (Windows)

Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support@1password.com

With your email please include:

@rickyjonesus

I'm sorry that you're running into the same issue. We've released improvements in 1Password version 8.11.6 (released August 19th, 2025) that should help avoid this situation. Please update if you're using an older version.

If you still see the issue even with 8.11.6 or later then I'd like to ask you to create and share a 1Password diagnostics report from your Windows PC:

Send a diagnostics report (Windows)

Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support@1password.com
