Admin Recycle Bin

We are using 1password at my company and I am one of the admins. Something that occurred to me over the weekend is that there is no ‘Recycle Bin’ for admins to protect against human error and accidental deletion of vaults, groups, etc. Everyone knows that admins must be careful when doing admin tasks, but accidents happen and maybe an instruction from the business was unclear or misunderstood. Maybe an admin meant to remove one vault but had their mind elsewhere and deleted another. Maybe an admin ‘goes rogue’ for some reason and wants to intentionally damage an organisation.

Whatever the reason, given the value of the vaults to an organisation and the damage that would be caused by deletion I feel there should be protections against foreseeable accidents like the above. At our org we have multiple admins for redundancy but I would be the main 1password admin, the one who gets called upon most (i.e. all) of the time. If I am on holiday and one of the other admins who hasn’t logged in for a while logs in, their inexperience is a risk. Admins are human and mistakes happen.

Interested to hear others thoughts on this and if it is something that could be included in future.

Hi @knightknight, thanks for sharing your feedback! I can definitely understand how an admin recycle bin feature would be useful to protect against this sort of situation, and I’ve filed a feature request with the team for future consideration.
