Question

Autofill shows websites that it should not show

Sometimes you discover features that might have been there all along, but just didn’t notice them. So with the autofill option to limit the result to certain websites. So in this case I also discovered this limitation option only works when you create a login item (why only there???).

But besides that point… it’s not working as it should.

I have a number of addresses that have subdomains, but although the information in 1Password tells me it will only fill on that specific address, it still shows up in about every site that has the same main domein… even worse… it’s showing the wrong login.

So the question is… is this something I’m missing or it it just a bug?

Environment:

macOS 26.5.2

1Password 8.12.33

Browser Safari Version 26.5.2 (21624.2.5.11.8)

Hello @Gerard thanks for reaching out!

I understand that you would like to limit items other than login items to only be offered as autofill suggestions on specific sites. Could you share more details about your use case such as what items you would find this feature beneficial for as well as how not having this feature is currently impacting your workflow?

As for the issue where your autofill behaviours aren’t being respected, can you confirm if you have the integration with your Mac’s native AutoFill solution enabled? You can check this in the desktop app under Settings > Autofill.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Hello Chris,

Yes. macOS AutoFill is active.

What I mean with showing login items that ‘matter’ is I have a number of logins that are directed to the same domain, but have a different prefix like:

abc.domain.com

bcd.domain.com

cde.domain.com

When I open the page for cde.domain.com I want to see that login as primary choice.

@Gerard

Thank you for the reply. Currently, autofill behaviours that you’ve set for certain items are not recognised by macOS AutoFill. This is something that our team is looking into for the future but might be currently blocked due to limitations in our implementation of macOS AutoFill.

You can revert back to the previous experience, using 1Password for Safari, with this guide: If you want to turn off Autofill

You can read more about macOS AutoFill here: macOS AutoFill is now available to everyone!
