Question

Cannot login email and secret key not recognised

I am setting up 1Password on my PC, and have a printout of my "emergency kit".  When I try to sign in, I get asked for my email address, secret key, and password.  I copy the email address and secret key from my emergency kit, and add my password, but get a message saying the secret key and email address are incorrect.  I have the printout in front of me, and have confirmed that what I have filled in is absolutely correct. So what do I do now?

Since you mention "printout", are you reading this information from a piece of paper and typing it, or are you copying it from the saved PDF?

If you are correctly entering both the email address and secret key, then that leaves your password as the likely source of error. Can you unlock 1Password on another device with the password?

Please copy or post an edited screenshot of the web page showing the error.

I think there was a problem, but now it's working again...

Thanks for engaging with this - Here's the notice I get.  I've just tried via my smartphone with the same result.

However, I have just discovered that, if I google: "1Password eu" I can get to a sign-in page which only asks for my password and that gets me in.  So I have now imported a csv file from Chrome and seem to be on track again.  Many thanks for your helpful questions. Regards, John

Hello @johninbideford! 👋

I'm sorry that you're having trouble signing into 1Password. It sounds like you might have setup your account on 1Password.eu, is that correct? If it is then make sure to switch "1Password.com" to "1Password.eu" on the page that you were on:

Let me know if that doesn't work.
