Lack of disable auto-submit per domain is completely unacceptable

Auto Fill and Auto Submit are synonymous in 1Password browser. Your options are, today:

#1 - Disable autofill which makes the browser act like there is no credential at all.

#2 - Disable auto-submit for EVERYTHING.

Both of these options render 1password useless, especially if this is a business critical website. This is absolutely unacceptable for 1password and I am completely at a loss as to how this is still an issue in 2026.

Sure, you can go fix it for that one website, but if another changes and breaks a business workflow - we need a workaround. Otherwise we might as well not use 1password at all.

Hello @ShakataGaNai! 👋

Welcome to the 1Password Community! You can definitely turn off auto-submit for individual logins, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the 1Password icon in your browser’s toolbar.
  2. Find and select the item in question.
  3. Click the three dots in the upper right corner of the item.
  4. Click Don’t sign in automatically

Why is that not an option in the app to configure? Why does your support team not know this? Why does your support bot not know this? It’s not documented anywhere that even Claude could find.

I don’t use the browser plugin beyond “it’s the thing that autofills”. That’s all its ever been to me, that’s all it’ll ever be. The fact that it has features the app doesn’t is shocking.

@ShakataGaNai

Thank you for the reply. I agree that it would be helpful to have this behaviour documented, and it looks like this is a gap in our documentation. I've flagged this internally so that our technical writing team can address this. I'm sorry that this wasn't documented and appreciate you bringing it to our attention.

The setting is currently only exposed in the browser extension since it only applies to autofill in the browser extension and not to desktop autofill features like Universal Autofill

Please let me know if there’s anything else that I can help you with.
