Sharing site credentials safely with a part-time collaborator

Hi everyone, I run a content site called Crabguide, and I recently started working with a part-time collaborator who needs access to a few accounts (hosting dashboard, email tool, one analytics login) but not everything I have stored.

I am looking at 1Password for the first time and trying to figure out the cleanest way to share just a subset of logins without giving full vault access. Would a separate shared vault for collaborator-accessible items be the standard approach, or is there a better pattern people use for this kind of partial access?

Thanks in advance!

Hello @abubakar1012! 👋

It sounds like a guest account would be the perfect option for your use case: Share with guests in your team

A guest account allows you to share a single vault with someone outside of your organization or family and they won’t have their own private vault.

I hope that helps.

We use separate vaults for sharing content with different departments and technical areas. One vault for Executive, one for IT, one for Networking, and one for Technicians who need some IT assets and some Networking assets. We store the passwords in each vault and handle permissions there. If you have access to both vaults and visit your login page, you will still get 1Password handling because you have access to both vaults.

Separate vaults is the only mechanism we’ve seen to handle access to specific sets of secured items.

You can always share a link, but then the password becomes uncontrolled, the links expire, and must be done one at a time.
