Question

Vault description field is whimpy...

Why is the description field expandable to a large canvas, but limits to a few chars?

Seems inconsistent and odd to limit to 1249 chars.

Is this a scam? The URL ^ doesn't resolve to anything helpful.

I can't reproduced it with 1Password for Linux 8.10.80 (81080023).

But just found out this:

Hi @dhalonen, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

I've done some testing and I can replicate this on the 1Password website. This has been reported to the team. Just to confirm, that's where you're seeing the issue as well?

Thanks for the detective work @nawan. It looks like adding a description from the 1Password apps rather than on 1Password.com may be a good workaround.

Could you share the steps you took to reach the second image? I wasn't able to reproduce this in 1Password for Windows.

Thanks again both!

Hi, @1P_Timothy

Hmm, I can reproduce it with 1Password for Linux 8.10.80 (81080023) on Fedora Linux 41, maybe you can try it on 1Password for Linux 8.10.80 on any Linux distro with following steps:

  1. Click the plus button in the sidebar.
  2. Give your vault a name andalso enter a description and choose an icon (optional steps)
  3. From the right bottom end of the vault description box, pull to the right to expand. Keep swiping right until the description field passes through the New Vault modal dialog.

Expected behavior: The vault description field should only expand downward, not to the right or across the New Vault modal dialog when the user tries to expand it to the right.

Thanks for including those steps @nawan! I don't have a Linux machine with me currently, but I'll pass this along to the team for another look.
