Account setup and recovery
Start by setting up your organization’s 1Password Enterprise Password Manager account. As the account creator, you’ll automatically become an account owner and can add team members after you complete the initial setup.
Sign up for an account
If you haven’t created an account yet, visit the sign-up page for your region. If your country isn’t listed, choose the option that matches your preferred billing currency and data storage region:
Next, install the 1Password browser extension and desktop app.

Create a recovery plan
A recovery plan gives team members a secure way back into their accounts if they get locked out.
As an administrator, you can help team members recover their accounts when they get locked out. But who can help you, an account owner, if you lose access to your own account?
Your recovery plan gives you that fallback and spreads administrative responsibilities across your organization.
- Save your Emergency Kit. Depending on your account settings, you can make the Emergency Kit available to all team members or only to administrators, including members of the Owners, Administrators, Security, and Recovery groups.
- Share administrative responsibilities with at least one other trusted team member. You can add another owner or administrator, or let selected team members recover accounts with the Recover Accounts custom group permission.
- Tell your team about the recovery plan. Make sure team members know whom to contact if they get locked out of their accounts.
