The three phases of deployment

Rolling out 1Password consists of three phases: Planning, configuration, and onboarding.

Planning

Start by preparing your account and your team.

• Create an Owner account and recovery plan
• Optional: Import existing credentials and secrets into 1Password Enterprise Password Manager
• Tell team members about your deployment

Configuration

If you plan to use Unlock with SSO, automated provisioning, or both, complete these steps first:

• Set up Unlock with SSO
• Set up automated provisioning

Next, complete these steps for every deployment:

• Set up policies
• Optional: Deploy the apps
• Create shared vaults

Onboarding

Roll out 1Password one group at a time:

• Onboard a team or department as a group in 1Password
• Update the group’s permissions and vault access
• Repeat the last two steps until the rollout is complete
