Learn how to rotate API keys with 1Password SDKs and AWS Lambda functions, and how to streamline your secrets workflows with Pulumi ESC.

Here's a preview of some major announcements coming out this week đź‘€

We're attending Pulumi UP to announce a new integration they built for 1Password. Part of Pulumi ESC, the new integration makes it easier to use 1Password as the source of truth for secrets across different clouds and environments.

Check out more during the following events:

  • Get the insights into automating developer security – 1Password VP of Product Jason Meller will join other industry leaders for a discussion on September 18 about how AI is reshaping the threat landscape for DevSecOps teams.
  • Learn how to set up Pulumi ESC and 1Password – 1Password Developer Relations Manager Phil Johnston joins the Pulumi team on September 25 to show you how to manage team secrets with 1Password and Pulumi ESC.

What's new

1Password Pulumi package

The new Pulumi 1Password package allows you to seamlessly access 1Password vaults and credentials from within your Pulumi cloud infrastructure.

Pulumi is an “infrastructure as code platform” that allows you to use familiar programming languages and tools to build, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure.

Whether you choose AWS, Azure, Google Cloud or another environment, your 1Password vaults and secrets will be available and secure.

Boost developer security with 1Password® Extended Access Management

Did you know  1Password Extended Access Management can help you ensure that SSH keys across managed and unmanaged devices are encrypted before your teams can access sensitive company systems and data? 1Password VP of Product Management Jason Meller shared how on the blog.

Community spotlight

Plover Steno integration

1Password has been integrated into Plover, an open-source program that turns your keyboard into a stenography machine (think that machine that court reporters use). With the Plover 1Password plugin, you can now use Plover to access secrets from your 1Password vault.

DMNO SDK integration

DMNO ("domino") is a suite of developer tools for configuring, running, and deploying full-stack web applications. The DMNO 1Password plugin provides access to your 1Password vault using the newly released 1Password JavaScript SDK.

Tips & insights

Rotating API keys with 1Password SDKs

If you missed our recent webinar introducing 1Password SDKs, you can watch it on demand and follow along by visiting our GitHub repository. 1Password Engineering Team Lead Simon Barendse has put together two detailed demos on using the 1Password JS SDK to manage API tokens. You’ll learn how to load an API token into an AWS Lambda Function, and how to automatically rotate API tokens daily for improved security and convenience in your AWS environment.

Managing SSH keys with 1Password

Cloud consulting agency Si Novi shared how they’re using 1Password to securely manage SSH keys for their engineering teams. By centralizing key storage and using biometric authentication, the 1Password SSH Agent strengthens security, simplifies workflows, and ensures consistent key management for tasks such as GitHub commits, server access, and team collaboration.

Managing developer secrets with 1Password and Pulumi

Learn how to integrate 1Password with Pulumi ESC for streamlined and secure management of developer secrets. Over on the 1Password blog, Diana Esteves shares how to centralize secret management, enhance security across diverse cloud environments, and simplify workflows by leveraging Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles to handle sensitive data effectively.

That’s it for the news. Have a great week, forward this to a friend who might enjoy it, and we’ll see you again soon.
