1Password 8.9.4 & Browser Extension not communicating

I always use private windows in Safari. When I unlock the application after it has timed out, the browser extension remains locked. I cannot unlock it by clicking on the extension to enter the password there. I have to quit Safari and restart it. That is a pain if I have a lot of windows & tabs open. I have tried to get the settings for the extension and the preferences for the application to match. It is a pain that you do not store the extension settings with my preferences or have a button that says sync.
