Feature Request - Secure Sent
As a 1Password user, I'd like to securely send anything, from an Excel file to a simple text note, so I can protect the information I'm sending end to end like I do with my personal Bitwarden account.
Context
Bitwarden's "Send" feature and 1Password's item sharing are distinct services for secure data transmission, not directly related versions. Bitwarden Send allows users to securely share sensitive information (text, files) using a time-limited link. 1Password's item-sharing feature enables sharing individual password items or entire vaults with others, offering customizable access permissions and expirations.
Bitwarden Send:
- Purpose: Securely share sensitive information (text, files) without requiring the recipient to have a Bitwarden account.
- How it works: It creates a secure link with a customizable lifespan and optional password protection.
- Key features: End-to-end encryption, time-limited access, and password protection.
1Password Item Sharing:
- Purpose: Share individual password items or entire vaults with other 1Password users or non-users.
- How it works: It generates a shareable link to an item or vault with configurable access permissions (read, read/write, etc.) and expiration.
- Key features include customizable access levels, expiration times, and hiding email addresses.
In essence:
Bitwarden Send is a general-purpose secure sharing tool, while 1Password's item sharing focuses on sharing specific password-related information within the 1Password ecosystem.
Both services offer secure data transmission and control over access, but they cater to different use cases.
