login fill issue - save!!!

login issue - after filling the password from 1password it's asking to save the same. Why? What's happening here?

I logged in for a site. I filled through 1password. After the login it asked me to save the login, why? I have not saved but it should not ask me. This is happening for multiple sites. I'm sure you'll say the site structure has changed but then such things should get updated automatically or there should be an option to check if the login already exists and I can confirm it to be the same.

Hello @vishalsheth! 👋

I'm sorry that you're seeing an unexpected prompt asking you to save a login on macOS. So that I can help further, can you share the following:

  1. How are you filling your login? Using the browser extension? Using Universal AutoFill (Command-Backslash)?
  2. What browser are you using when you see the issue?
  3. Can you share a screenshot of the prompt that you see?

I look forward to hearing from you.

@vishalsheth

If you can share the website address and a screenshot of the prompt that you see, the next time that the issue occurs, then that'll help me to reproduce the issue on my end and file a bug report with our development team.

This is another issue. the extension and 1password are one and the same then why is it treating as different databases?

Can you clarify what you mean by "different databases"?

Also when the website is updated it should also update the new address and details if needed for password filling.

Thank you for the suggestion. Do you mean that if a website itself changes it's website address, you'd like 1Password to find this change and update the website address in 1Password? Are you able to share a few more details?

I have this behaviour occasionally too & when using Universal AutoFill. The extension prompts to save new or update existing info.

I saved the 'updated' information from the popup and noticed that the browser extension had saved the password truncated after 30 characters. It was a simple rollback in the app to return to the correct saved password though.

@1P_Dave  Does the browser ext have any character limitations?

@vishalsheth , do you use a particularly long password on the sites where you observe this issue? When prompted, you could save a new entry and compare differences to see if you have any truncated fields.

Using:
1P v8 desktop + browser extension (latest)
Safari (latest)
macOS Tahoe (latest)

@Ind3X

I think I had faced this issue in the past. Since it was a pain and such issues kept arising even after sharing I stopped saving in such manner. Even today when I generate through the browser extension I copy it. Now I allow it to save. Then I check in 1p8 if it's the same, if not then I update by pasting it. It saved random password. I'm guessing the browser was not allowing sharing the password generated and shared garbled characters.

@1P_Dave We should be way away from such issues.

Also when the website is updated it should also update the new address and details if needed for password filling.
