Search doesn't search in section names
If you try to search for something it doesn't seem to search for section names. For example I've standard username/password but I often add some subsection with names that tell you things for example 'pin', 'apple watch' or whatever. Right now the search is empty. Please include it.

Sorry for bringing this back from dead but I believe this feature has 2 problems:
- CTRL+SHIFT+SPace for quick search completely ignores it and never shows found items
- Searching inside 1password works, but only if you search and press enter (aka Show all matching items).Could this be improved?

Hi folks,
Today's nightly (80901013) includes some changes that I think you might like when it comes to substring searching:
Let me know what you think!

You did the opposite breaking existing functionality or even sacrificing it in order to create new functionality.
In some ways that is true. I believe we've covered in a few other threads the specifics of why a new approach was needed here. In any event, we're way off topic from searching in section names. :) If there is further to say about substring search let's take that back to threads that are about that subject please.
It's good to know you guys are working on it and taking our feedback into consideration.
That's a big part of why we're doing this early access / extended beta phase. v8 is a significant change, and we want to know where folks want us to focus our efforts. Of course, not everyone agrees on what those priorities should be. 😁

@ben you had working substring search for years. I know that 1PW8 was rewritten from scratch but being a software developer for more than 20 years you typically try first to do not break existing functionality and add new one on top of that. You did the opposite breaking existing functionality or even sacrificing it in order to create new functionality.

Thanks for the input on the substring search, folks. We definitely would like for this to work as you've described, the challenge is enabling that without breaking international support. It isn't impossible to do so, but it is going to take more work, and I don't know when that'll be ready.

I'm on the same boat; this is a dealbreaker for me and rolled back to v7.
IMHO this breaks basic functionality and should be considered a critical fix - but hey, that's just me. - Former Member
Let me revise my last comment. I can't just go to the beta release as we are standardizing on the software we get installed at the office. I need to wait for the new features to be updated in the regular release to take advantage of the new/old search

Personally I don't want to move to the beta version of the application just to get the search to work better. I will try and hold out a bit longer for search feature update to hit a final version.
Do you have any eta on when this could be?
this is Ironic too... I have been a lastpass user before I came to this new company, I really liked how 1PW worked and my 1 year is coming up soon for renewal. I was going to make the switch to 1PW but now, I am not sure what to do...

volts in my case it's "Openweathermap" and trying to search for "wea". Support recommended to change the entry's name to "OpenWeatherMap" because this way 1PW8 will be able to find it. I'm not going to change my entries just to enable the substandard search find what I'm looking for. It worked in all versions before 8 and it's the way search works in pretty much every other application I use. The whole thing reminds me of Apple's "you are holding it wrong" comment.
