Trusted Browser Support - Windows
Good Day! Is there any word on when trusted browser support will be available for the Windows version? I am using Floorp as my browser (I wanted a Firefox/Gecko based browser that supports Workspaces) but the Desktop app doesn't integrate with Floorp, nor is there any way to add it as a trusted browser.
It appears this feature to add a trusted browser is only available for Mac, so I am curious when it will be made available for Windows as well?
1Password Version: 8.10.26
Extension Version: 2.15.1
OS Version: Windows 11
Browser: Floorp
Hello folks,
I'm happy to share that you can now add unsupported browsers as additional trusted browsers to 1Password for Windows. Follow these steps:
- Install 1Password in your browser from the appropriate web-store.
- Add the browser as an additional browser to 1Password: Connect additional browsers to the 1Password app
A couple of notes:- Make sure that your browser is installed system-wide with admin permissions in the C:\Program Files folder.
- When using an unsupported browser you might run into unexpected issues. If you see those same issues with a supported browser like Firefox or Chrome then let us know by starting a new discussion and we can investigate.

We don't have a public timeline and we tend to keep things pretty close to the chest so that we avoid disappointing folks if certain features are delayed or cancelled. This specific feature is yet to be built for Windows; the team hopes to bring additional trusted browsers to other platforms in the future.

Any update on a timeline when this will be available. I thought I might be the only one when I started this discussion, but it looks to be an extremely popular feature request.

Thank you for the request, I've passed it along to the team. 🙂
The custom trusted browser feature is currently available for the Mac and the team hopes to bring this feature to other platforms in the future. There is an alternate process on Linux that can allow you to use an unsupported browser with 1Password but it predates the trusted browsers feature and doesn't work the same way.

I'd like to express my strong interest in this as well.
It leaves a bad taste in my mouth that MacOS and Linux have a way to get the integration working (I'm looking at the browser 'Zen' which is essentially a Firefox clone with UI niceness on top) but not windows.
Giving me the ability to manually approve a browser would finally let me start using Zen fully

I also am keen on this being a Opera user. Please add the trusted browsers option if its technically feasible without exposing the operating system to additional risk.

1Password 8 is more deeply integrated into macOS and Windows than previous versions of 1Password. Each operating system offers different technical opportunities and challenges which means that certain features may take longer to arrive on certain platforms.
Most features and changes are rolled out to both macOS and Windows at the same time thanks to the unified code base but some features require more work, or need to be written in a completely different way, on a platform.
I've let the team know that you're still eager to see this feature be added to 1Password for Windows in the future. 🙂

1P_Dave I thought the point of the move to Electron with version 8 was a unified code base that allowed the company to implement features at an even pace across platforms? I understand the platforms have differences in APIs which need to be accounted/developed for, but this has been a year.
