Why do my vaults not show up on the left hand side of the home page?
Vaults only show up on a drop down menu at the top of the home page. I am trying to share passwords on the shared vault from my private vault but I cannot do so.

Are you trying to share 1Password items on 1Password.com? If so, here's a detailed guide on how to Securely share 1Password items with anyone.
If not, can you explain what you are trying to achieve more in-depth? For example, are you trying to share certain passwords in your shared vault with 1Password in the browser? Or, are you trying to move around items between your vaults?
