Blue Sky
Hello there,
I know 1Password has an account on Blue Sky. Could it please start to be used? Some of us really dislike using X, so at least posting latest news and responding to mentions on alternative platforms would be appreciated.
Helps make 1Password not look abandoned when people mention the account too. (which can only be a good thing surely!)

Hey rctneil AJCxZ0! You’re right that we grabbed the Bluesky handle early as a bit of flag-planting so nobody else ran off with it while we figured out what our actual game plan should be there. It wasn’t meant to be a “fake active” account or anything, but I completely get how it looks that way when the profile exists but isn't really active.
On Mastodon, we're in a similar in-between phase at the moment. We've been spending time trying to understand how brands should actually show up there, as Mastodon has a pretty different culture around corporate/brand accounts, and we wanted to get it right rather than just barging in. That's why most of the replies you see come from my personal account (@blake@1password.social) instead of the brand account. It felt more natural to engage person-to-person there, at least while we are figuring things out.
I agree with the core point though. If we have an account somewhere and people can interact with it, it shouldn’t feel abandoned or like you’re shouting into the void.
No concrete promises on exact timelines for when things will pick up on either of the platforms, but this feedback is being heard, and it’s genuinely helpful as we figure out how to handle Bluesky and Mastodon in a more intentional way.
Thanks for pushing on this. I really do appreciate the candid feedback here.

Since they don't mention Bluesky, there is a very good chance that 1Password grabbed obvious handle(s) as a flag-planting exercise, i.e. with no intent to post.
They do, however, advertise their social media presence on Mastodon - the Fediverse version of what a better X could be if it was run by and for the people who use it - however their last post was almost a year ago announcing this community and last and only reply since was over half a year ago.

I understand the need for flagplanting, but I believe that if they have an account, then it's discoverable by users. This means if people on that platform interact with it and don't get a reply etc it's a bad look.

I concur.
They have set up @1password.bsky.social to look like it's on the platform for the intended purpose of engaging with others. If that's not the intent, then saying so in their Description would be the easy and obvious way to indicate this, ideally directing folks to platforms on which they do engage.
