Both the extension and the app are updated and at current versions.

Have tried various combinations of quitting browser + app, and toggling / untoggling the "Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app" and "Connect with 1Password in the browser" settings in the extension / app, respectively.

Have toggled on and off the "Allow in the background" setting in System Settings->General

Still getting "Status: Problems connecting 🟠. Please make sure the 1Password app is unlocked." 100% of the time when using the extension, and no option for TouchID

BEYOND frustrated at this point. I just want to use TouchID on my browser extension!

1Password Version: 8.10.40
Extension Version: 2.27.1
OS Version: 14.6.1
Browser: Safari

Hi everyone,

We've identified a connection problem between the 1Password for Safari web extension and the 1Password for Mac desktop app, which is causing 1Password for Safari to require a separate unlock from the desktop app. Our development team is working on a fix, though I don't have an exact timeline for when it will be available. You can monitor the status of this issue here:

In the meantime, the connection should work properly in other supported browsers, such as Chrome or Firefox. I apologize for the inconvenience and any confusion this may have caused, and I appreciate your understanding.

Hi @""kevin.li",

Yes, I can use Touch ID to unlock the 1Password desktop app. It's only 1Password for Safari that requires entering my password.

Thanks for the explanation -- now I understand that the connection issue is responsible for that.

I am having the same problem. 1Password on Mac with Safari, the extension keeps locking even though I have that disabled. Very annoying!

Before the last extension update for Safari, the extension used to unlock automatically when I opened the browser. Now every time I open the browser, I must reenter my password manually to enable the extension. I've tried all the settings I see regarding the extension, reinstalled, 1password is updated, and I;ve rebooted. I can't seem to get the extension to automatically unlock itself when opening Safari.

Support replied back to my email and told me it’s a known issue and they’re working on fixing it. As a workaround, you can hit command / And it will auto fill without using the extension

I have been having the same problem for several days. Today, the 1P desktop app on my Mac updated to version 8.10.44 (81044034), but the 1Password for Safari extension is version 2.27.1
