Both the extension and the app are updated and at current versions.

Have tried various combinations of quitting browser + app, and toggling / untoggling the "Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app" and "Connect with 1Password in the browser" settings in the extension / app, respectively.

Have toggled on and off the "Allow in the background" setting in System Settings->General

Still getting "Status: Problems connecting 🟠. Please make sure the 1Password app is unlocked." 100% of the time when using the extension, and no option for TouchID

BEYOND frustrated at this point. I just want to use TouchID on my browser extension!

1Password Version: 8.10.40
Extension Version: 2.27.1
OS Version: 14.6.1
Browser: Safari

Very annoying. Safari extension without Touch ID is hardly useful

Check for updates to 1Password for Safari from the App Store.

To gfio - pardon me for not being as smart as you - I did check for similar posts/solutions before posting my question.

To jam.pd_1p - thank you for the assistance.
1) I am setup for auto updates but apparently it did not update this time.
2) I updated to 8.10.44 manually and unfortunately the issue persists. It works fine and normal on both firefox and chrome, just not on safari.

A newer version of 1Password for Safari should be making its way though the App Store. Please check for updated when you can.

@BenBob

No worries at all BenBob thanks for joining us.

Auto updates for me always tend to be on the slower side. You described updating 1Password for Mac. Did you update 1Password for Safari from the Mac App Store? If you did try the following.

  1. Look for our helper in the menu bar near the WiFi indicator and the clock. Right-click (Option-click) on the helper and select quit 1Password completely.
  2. Fully quit your browser. *Do not minimize.
  3. Wait a few seconds and then open 1Password from the Dock or the Applications folder and unlock
  4. Open your browser.

@1P_Tommy

Hi

Just updated to 8.10.44 and still have the unlock issue, also according to release notes the version numbers of extension and app are supposed to be aligned now, though for me safari extension is still version 2.27.1.

From release notes

"We’re excited to share that we’ve updated the release number formatting for the 1Password browser extension! This change aligns our browser extension with the 1Password apps, so you’ll now see the same release number across all platforms. Plus, both the extension and apps will be released on the same date, for a consistent and streamlined experience."

Try the following. It should help.

  1. Look for our helper in the menu bar near the WiFi indicator and the clock. Right-click (Option-click) on the helper and select Quit.
  2. Quit your browser.
  3. Wait a few seconds and then open 1Password from the Dock or the Applications folder and unlock
  4. Open your browser.

@1P_Tommy

I just did, but There doesn't seem to be an update yet.
My 1Password for safari version is 2.27.1.
Guess I'll try to uninstall/reinstall it

Update: uninstalling/reinstalling seems to have done the job (getting the update, which for some reason didn't come automatically, though automatic updates where checked).
Thanks!

@sbonzix

Should be making it's way through the store. 8.10.44 is the version number needed.

Working again in Sonoma 14.6.1 (23G93) with Safari Version 17.6 (19618.3.11.11.5). Thank you for the prompt fix!
