Yep, this needs an urgent fix

Same here.

@DaviatorSF that is a great workaround. I disabled the 1P Safari extension on both my iPhone and iPad and turned off that Share across devices so it still works on my Mac. I don't seem to be getting any of those emails any more and 1Password filling still works surprisingly well. Makes you wonder what the great value of the extension really is.

Every time I open Safari in iOS I get the 1Password page asking me to load the browser extension. Why is this happening in iOS?

1Password Version: 1Password for iOS 8.10.56 (81056028)
Extension Version: Not Provided
OS Version: 18.3
Browser: Safari

Hi everyone. Please see the comment I linked above – https://1password.community/discussion/comment/722601/#Comment_722601 – to learn more about how to stop these "new sign-in" emails by temporarily turning off 1Password for Safari on iOS.

@dbsawyer – These are both symptoms of the same issue, realistically. Because Safari makes 1Password forget you've been signed in, it can't remember being signed in before, so when it reconnects, we have no way of telling that it isn't a new device. Each new email = one "new" device, because there isn't any way for 1Password to know any better when Safari destroys its database.

Hi @TomWolsky

Most likely, it's because you're using a beta of iOS 18.3. We have heard reports of Safari in that version of iOS doing less-than-ideal things to the 1Password Safari extension's database, which makes it forget that you've used it before. We've raised it with Apple in case it's something they need to fix, and are working on a fix of our own to see if we can work around this change in Safari. All of that is in progress right now.

For now, you may want to turn off the 1Password Safari extension to stop this happening. You can do that in the Settings app > Apps > Safari > Extensions.

Please let me know if you have any questions, or would like any further help.

Hey folks. This is something to do with iOS 18.3 beta, and you can read more about this here:

https://1password.community/discussion/comment/722601/#Comment_722601

The tl;dr is that something about Safari changed in iOS 18.3 which destroys the 1Password extension's database, making it think you're signing in repeatedly, with no way to tell the difference.

Please thread any questions there if needed.

Thank you Grey. I was puzzled by the page as the extension was on. I'll see what happens with it switched off.

There are a bunch of overlapping threads on this. See this response from 1P:
