Hello folks,

I'm happy to share that you can now add Zen Browser as an additional browser to 1Password for Windows. Follow these steps:

  1. Install 1Password in Zen Browser from the Firefox Browser Add-ons Store
  2. Add Zen Browser as an additional browser to 1Password: Connect additional browsers to the 1Password app

A couple of notes:

  • Make sure that Zen Browser is installed system-wide with admin permissions in the C:\Program Files folder.
  • Zen Browser is not an officially supported browser and you might run into unexpected issues. If you see those same issues with a supported browser like Firefox then let us know by starting a new discussion and we can investigate.

+1 for Zen Browser. Seems the other Zen threads were locked and posts got deleted after someone reported that Comet was custom added to the latest windows nightly build, going against the idea that the old vetting process has been retired.

@gshorr

Can you link to the locked threads that you're referring to so that I can take a look? I did merge a couple of threads together to avoid having the same conversation in multiple places at once.

1Password Team:
You support Arc, a discontinued browser, but do not support Zen...?!
Be aware that many former Arc users are moving to Zen, as you probably already noticed in this thread...

Thank you for the feedback! Are you using 1Password on a Windows PC or on another platform? I noticed that you mentioned Linux and Mac in other posts, you can add Zen Browser to 1Password on those platforms using this guide: Connect additional browsers to the 1Password app

+1 from me as well.
I also find it very frustrating that my favorite password manager, which I have been using for years, does not support the Zen Browser.
When I was using Arc, it wasn’t a problem — but since I switched to Zen, it is.

I saw in the forum that adding additional browsers is currently only available for Mac and Linux, and that supporting browsers individually isn’t sustainable.
What’s the current progress on bringing this feature to Windows?

Welcome to the community! Our team is working on bringing the additional browsers feature to Windows, I don't have a timeline to share just yet but keep an eye on this thread. 🙂

Thanks for the request! There aren't any plans currently to support Zen Browser directly but our team is working on bringing additional browser support to Windows so that you can add whichever browser you'd like (including Zen Browser) to 1Password.

It's been like 2 years now. Very disappointed that Zen is still not supported.

Do we have an update on the timeline or is it just abandoned and nobody cares about bringing the additional browser feature to windows?

Hey @TobiasGoetz! The team’s still working on bringing the additional browsers feature to Windows. We don’t have a timeline to share, but it’s still on the roadmap.

Hi,

Long time family subscriber here. Actively considering switching away from 1Password for my next subscription cycle as I move my usage to Zen. As a courtesy to long time service provider (1Password) created this community account to leave feedback.

1Password (and password managers in general) are fairly niche service where majority of audince are (at least to some extent) privacy and security oriented. It is true that most of your customers are likely on OSX/Linux or some other forms of Unix-based OS's but life and (more importantly) family drive us to use Windows sometimes. Your audience being privacy and security focused are very likely to stay away from Chromium-based browsers, independent of what your telemetry says, since most of us would have telemetry disabled. Zen has rapidly gained popularity among this audience with exodus from Arc and active development status.

Now to my feedback. To your Product Managers: please try to improve your understanding of your audience and rely less on telemetry data lake, which will be skewed away from privacy-focused crowd. Follow the trends and do research in thematic internet-spheres. To @1P_Blake: I understand you are a community manager and do not own the roadmap but influencing roadmap with community sentiment should be a must. Phrase "It's on the roadmap" means literally nothing if it's not prioritised for upcoming development cycle. As a roadmap owner I can tell you that without strong advocacy it will be forever punted. I would assume yoru customer acquisition trends are very good if your leadership is not worried about retention.

Best of luck, I enjoyed using 1Password while it stayed relevant.

@Sergey

Welcome to the community! By default, 1Password directly supports the most popular browsers such as Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and more. Each supported browser has to go through a vetting and approval process and this process created a situation where many browsers never had the chance to be added due to the work required and the number of browsers requested by the community.

We've invested in building a feature to allow you to add the browser of your choice to 1Password. This allows you to personally control which browser you use and add to 1Password. The feature is currently available for macOS and Linux and we're actively working to build and release it for Windows as well: Connect additional browsers to the 1Password app

I am also using a lot of browsers in Windows, and using Zen as my primary. I am tired of waiting for this feature - my subscription is expiring in couple of months and if this feature is not implemented by then I will not renew.
