1Password dev ressources vs IPO

Hello,
since 2024, when 1Password started looking into/considered an IPO, i have the feeling all development ressources were focused solely on growing the userbase and everything else was deprioritized.

For example:

  1. The terraform provider didn't get any updates (e.g. Ephemeral Values)
  2. Simple improvements are deep in the backlog:
    Collapsible tags
Displaying the user on the "last edited" line
  3. Improvements for managing vaults/users in an enterprise context are missing:
    Admins still can delete Owners
Vaults can be deleted by any admin without "four-eye-principle" ...
  4. There is no way to export vaults encrypted

Maybe some ressources could be assigned to improvements instead of new features...

Hi @sebastianreload,

You're raising an important topic here! I know it sounds like PR speak, but everything I've ever heard from leadership is focused on making 1Password's products the best they can be. Something that isn't true for all software companies is that we're making a product we actually use ourselves. We see the same bugs or opportunities for new features that other users do and the team is very passionate about improving 1Password.

We've released quite a few new features over the last several months, but I know it's frustrating if those new features aren't ones you were personally looking forward to. Because we serve developers, administrators, families, etc., new features will sometimes only be exciting to one group of folks, but that doesn't mean we aren't hard at work. Here are a few examples of some things we've released in the last handful of months:

These are in addition to things useful for everyday users like anti-peek mode and being able to add locations to items and see nearby items. I can't go into details about the future, but I think there's a lot for 1Password users to be excited about. If you'd like to learn more about what we've been working on, we have a webinar coming up in just under a month that you're welcome to join!
