1P must be open for it to fill in pw in FF. Is this usual behavior?
Newly installed 1P and extension in FF, and turned ext. on. iMac, Big Sur.
When I try to use 1P to fill in usernames/passwords in FF, the message that comes up is "open 1P", so I have to fill in the master password.
I thought 1P would fill in these for me without being open, so this makes 1P vastly less useful.
Am I doing something wrong [likely!]?

Hi @pellerbe
It is not; sorry. If you want the extension to unlock when you unlock the desktop app, it must also lock with it.

Ag ana, I left it at default , which locks after 5 min.
But while I can see why to set that for the Mac app, for security, why does that locking affect the extension?My ideal situation would be to unlock the desktop app once, and then no matter what happens to the desktop app, have the extension be able to fill in pw etc. until I shutdown/restart the Mac. Is this obtainable?
Thanks.

@pellerbe:
Thank you for the confirmation. If both the extension and the desktop app lock at the same time, it sounds like 1Password is following your auto-lock settings. If you open 1Password for Mac and go to Preferences > Security > Auto-lock section, did you configure the 1Password app to lock after a few minutes?

Yes.
I have to put in the master pw again.

@pellerbe:
After a few minutes, the extension locks itself again, requiring that I sign in with the master password again.
When this happens, does the 1Password desktop app also get locked?

Oh yes, should mention: my passwords are all in 1P now, so I cannot afford to lose them!

Rejoiced too soon [sigh!].
After a few minutes, the extension locks itself again, requiring that I sign in with the master password again.
By the way, same behavior in Safari, so I haven't tried deleting and re-installing the FF extension.
Thanks! - Former Member
