I actually had no technical issues with the move from 7 to 8. However, I do agree that the UI, while "prettier" is a bit clunky, click happy, somewhat unintuitive, and a regression. Examples for me on macOS:

  • macOS > Multiple Monitors > 1Password Refuses Focus until Restart (https://1password.community/discussion/135685/macos-multiple-monitors-1password-refuses-focus-until-restart/p1?new=1)
  • Inability to edit from the Open Item in New Window (https://1password.community/discussion/comment/666375#Comment_666375)
  • Inability to re-order entries (https://1password.community/discussion/comment/663234#Comment_663234)
  • Inability to change the data type. (e.g. text > password) (https://1password.community/discussion/135686/change-field-types-i-e-text-password-etc/p1?new=1)

Just to name a few (regressions). So unlike you, I'm not ready to jump ship, but I have also paused recommending it to others for now. Sad.
