1Password 8.10.7 Mac locks when window closed
EDIT: My bad. The default "Newest" sorting order, coupled with all replies having the "3 years ago" timestamp made it look like the earliest response ("enable the menu bar icon") was actually the latest. I will leave my comment still, as a record of my frustration with this issue, although at least half of it was unwarranted, apparently.
This thread is an embarrassment. 3 years later the issue still persists. 3 years of everyone still paying you.
And it is an issue, please stop trying to convince people that this is by design. Your settings page has clear options for auto-lock behavior, and window close killing everything is not among them. It happens despite them. With the design standard you guys have (that we pay for, over your competitors), there's no way you would willingly let pass such opaque behavior without even a mention of it in the relevant settings section.
I do not care for the stupid menu bar icon, I will not have unnecessary garbage there. And I will not pay for some third party tool to solve a problem that an expensive tool I pay for creates.
I kept patiently waiting for this behavior to be fixed but I'm sick of it now. Every single day I have to reopen 1P countless times and unlock it because one way or another, the main window was closed and the SSH agent is dead.
At the end of the day, it doesn't even matter if it is by design or not. Clearly many people don't want the menu bar icon, and still want to keep 1P alive even when the main window is closed. "There's a product across the street to fix the problems in the product we sold you" is not a solution!
Thank you so much for sharing your feedback. We really appreciate it. The product team does review and consider suggestions from the community, but not every request can be implemented right away (or in some cases at all), as we have to balance different priorities and concerns.
I personally think your point about the label for the “Keep 1Password in the menu bar” option not being as descriptive as it could be is a valid one. While I can’t promise any immediate changes to either this functionality or the description of the option, I’ll make sure all of your feedback is shared with the team so your voice is part of the conversation about the menu bar icon moving forward.
