2 years agoAdding 2FA by One-Time Password
So I found out you can add 2FA keys on the Mac as well, using the One-Time Password field. Why isn't this shown in the Chrome/Mac app? On both, nobody will use their webcam to scan the printed QR code ..., right? Or am I missing something?
This also allows you to add 2FA for sites that don't show the popup! Which comes in handy, but again, it feels this should be show to the user somewhere.

Hello @marijnbent! 👋
Thank you for writing in! The QR code scanner in both the desktop app and the browser extension allow you to scan a QR code that is displayed on your screen, there's no need to use a webcam.
Alternatively you can add the TOTP secret itself manually by typing it in if you're not seeing the QR code on the website. You can learn more here:
- To save your QR code in the 1Password apps
- To save your QR code using the 1Password browser extension
Let me know if you have any questions.
