After upgrade from v7 to v8, I now have two vaults..what to do>

Thanks for your message and using 1Password 8. I'm sorry for the troubles you've been encountering.

We do not have a duplicate detection tool in 1Password, but you should be able to see the number of items in a vault by selecting the vault in the left sidebar and scrolling to the bottom of the item list.
