Annoyed at number of interactions required to autofill
So in my experience so far with 1Password 8, it takes many more interactions to autofill when your vault is locked:
1Password 7:
Hit command-slash
Touch ID prompt appears automatically, just touch finger to Touch ID to unlock
Password autofills automatically
(2 interactions)
1Password 8:
Hit command-slash
1Password window pops up to enter password, you have to click a button to enable Touch ID, then touch the sensor
The browser extension doesn't automatically detect that 1P is unlocked so you have to click the extension, then click "Open 1Password." It takes a few seconds, then unlocks.
Now that it's unlocked, you can hit command-slash again to autofill

I typically go to a site that I want to log into and press either
cmd-\
oropt-cmd-\
. From there 1P7 would pop up a window that had the card for the login credentials for that site. I could choose to fill the creds and 1P would do that quite nicely for me and log me in.In 1P8 (8.7.0, 80700012) the quick look thing pops up, I have to search for the site I am already at, and then the only fill option helpfully (or not) also opens a new browser window. This is a problem on sites like Feedly.com, or Twitter, were the login fields are hidden behind some javascript, and not exposed when you first arrive at the page. 1P8 opens a new window, loads the site and fails to fill my creds. I end up having to copy the username and paste the username, then copy the password and then paste the password. and if the site is set up with 2FA I get to copy the 2factor code and paste the 2factor code.
Not really an improvement in my book. Hoping this gets better.

Thank you folks for this feedback!
@VividLamp - my understanding is this is technically a different issue, and one our developers are aware of. I'll double-check on the specifics of this though.
I'll do some additional testing on this and should be replying to this thread again shortly. Thanks for your patience, folks!

- On login screen, hit shortcut
- 1Password window pops up; enter passsword
- Browser extension sometimes unlocks
- Hit enter to fill suggested login item
And on some page: reload and try to select the login again… I have quite a few pages that require a reload after you've unlocked 1Password. :-\

1P_PeterG thanks for the responses, does your comment mean that us 1Password 7 users are out of luck as far as any way to have Touch ID not force the user to hit the shortcut a second time (after the initial trigger)? Or am I missing a setting that would allow this.

1P_PeterG Adding to this thread. I have a very similar experience as the OP. The caveat being the issue only happens when I use my Mac in "clam shell" mode. Due to my desk configuration my computer is not within reach. I have to manually enter the password to unlock the vault via extension. Just like the OP after I type in my password the extension does not update. I have to click "open 1password" again for the extension to show my available passwords. This does not happen if I use it with TouchID as normal.

This has actually gotten worse for me recently. I thought it used to work like this:
- On login screen, hit shortcut
- 1Password window pops up; enter passsword
- Browser extension sometimes unlocks
- Hit enter to fill suggested login item
But now, before step 4, I find that somehow focus is not given to the browser extension, so that hitting enter does not have any effect. This is despite it appearing to be at the front of the window, and Safari appearing to be the active application. What I have to do is CMD-Tab twice, to leave and return to Safari. At that point, hitting enter will fill the suggested login item.
Any idea what is happening? It is recent behavior -- last week or so. I'm using v 2.3.0 of the safari browser extension, and v 8.6.0 of 1Password for Mac.

Hi folks, from my testing recently it looks like this has been significantly improved in 1Password 8. But if anyone is seeing any clunkiness in the 1Password 8 / Touch ID integration, let me know and I'll be happy to investigate further, offer a fix, or report any areas of improvement to our development team. 👍

Found your feedback based on searching for a smoother way to utilize Touch ID, I'm wondering if you had to change settings to get Touch ID to trigger an automatic autofill on 1Password 7? I'm getting a similar experience on 7 as you describe on 8 (Hit command-slash, system prompts Touch ID to unlock, then have to hit command-slash again to trigger autofill).
