App integration with the browser extension isn't working for macOS 10.15 and macOS 11 [Known Issue]

When the 1P desktop app is unlocked, the 1P Firefox extension used to unlock automatically. That has stopped working. I restarted Firefox and it fails to unlock every time even though the 1P desktop app is unlocked. I have already tried rebooting the macbook, etc. but nothing fixes it. I have the 1P desktop app set to never auto-lock. The 1P extension is set to integrate with the desktop app and not auto-lock.
The latest versions of macOS (for this macbook), Firefox, 1P FF extension, and 1P desktop app are installed.
This feature seems to get fixed and broken depending on the release. Please fix it ASAP.
Please regression-test your releases on all platforms, not just the more popular ones.

  • Hello owenw4rd and markbot! 👋

I'm sorry that app integration between the 1Password desktop app and 1Password in the browser isn't working. Our team is investigating an issue with app integration that affects folks who use macOS 10.15 and macOS 11, hopefully a fix is released soon.

For the time being, you'll need to unlock 1Password in the browser using your account password separately from the desktop app.

Alternatively, if you can update to macOS 12 or later then that would allow you to avoid the issue. Although I know that updating to a more recent version of macOS isn't always possible.

    Dear 1password Helpers,

1PW just isn't connecting with Firefox.

I open up the desktop app, plug in the password and it opens fine, but the browser extension simply does not. I have to plug the password into the browser as well.

When I quit the desktop app, the browser extension stays on and active.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the browser extension -- twice. The two connect once (maybe) but then disconnect again.

I have tried turning off and on the Setting "Connect with 1Password in the browser," but it does nothing.

    Any thoughts or ideas appreciated.

    Best,

    -Mark

P.S. Another little confusion: Did you change the numbering scheme on the browser extension? I remember it being 2 point something, but now (looking at the extension in Firefox) it appears to be 8.10.44.34. Perhaps I'm looking at the wrong place in Firefox?
