Apple Watch and Privacy Settings

Under 1Password > Settings > Security, I have the box checked for Unlock with Apple Watch. Can I now safely set [Require Password] to Never, or am I better advised to choose a certain number of days after which the password would be required? While entering the password on the Mac keyboard is no problem, entering that long, complex master password on the tiny iPhone keyboard is indeed a serious problem.

Dave - that's simply a terrific response and exactly what I was looking for. Many, many thanks.

  • Hello BikerBob38! 👋

Thanks for the question! The "Confirm my account password" option (previously called the "Require password" option) allows you to prompt how often you'd like the 1Password app to ask you to confirm your account password even if you have Touch ID, Face ID, or Apple Watch unlock enabled.

The feature is useful because it helps you to remember your account password by entering it into the app every so often. If you never have to enter your account password then you might forget it due to lack of use.

The setting doesn't sync across devices and you can choose different time periods for different devices. Personally, I have 1Password for Mac ask me for my account password every 2 weeks (since it's easier to type on my Mac's keyboard) and Never for 1Password on my iPhone.

    I hope that helps.
