Can't export attachments
I seem to remember that it used to be possible to export attachments in previous builds, but in 8.7.0-3.NIGHTLY, I simply can't figure out how to do it. Am-I missing something?
I have apps that need a license file to be activated and I simply cannot export the file itself at this point…
(and while we're on this topic, I miss the time when attachments were only that: embedded in the item they belonged to and that was it. I really don't need to see them separately in the list of my items as documents).

I understand. I wish there were a better answer, and perhaps there will be in the future. At the moment what you've outlined is the only solution if you'd like these items as attachments instead of Documents.

If it's any consolation, as Ben mentioned, now that 1Password accounts support item attachments, this shouldn't be an issue moving forward.
Correcting the situation right now is doable… but really tedious.
I sure am glad it won’t be an issue un the future, but I still have 92 items to process and it’s not fun:- Select the Documents category
- Select an item
- Download it (it takes a couple of clicks)
- Delete the item
- Find the original item it came from
- Delete the “missing item”
- Link to the downloaded document
- Repeat 91 more times…

Hey @mia:
Glad to hear you were able to get it sorted.

No worries Jack_P_1P I ended up going through each of my items (ugh Lol) and going through each one and re-linking.

Hey @mia / cortig:
While we don't have an automated way of reconciling this change back to attachments, I'll definitely bring it up and see if there's a way we can improve this in the future.

I have the same question. Took me 2 hours to relink half my attachments. I do wish that disclaimer was made when transitioning from 1PW 7 to 1PW 8.

I don't think there is a bug here. Just the result of the way things evolved. I hope that helps explain. Have a great weekend!
Thanks for clarifying and confirming what happened here 1P_Ben.
Is there a way to automate putting them all back inside their original items as an attachment??

For some context:
At the time the 1Password 8 Early Access was launched we did not support attachments on items in 1Password accounts. The only way to "attach" one item to another was through the Related Items linking feature. This is why the migrator changed standalone attachments to Related Items. We later added support for attachments to items in 1Password accounts. This is why you see the two different behaviors.

Because it is a linked file. You have to attach it directly into the entry.
Sure… But it was attached directly (embedded within the item) in 1Password 7. It got automatically split up and linked during the transition to v8.
Believe me, I did not manually split them into a software entry, and a document for the license file, with a link to it in the software entry.Since the licence files can be embed within the software items, it looks like a bug to me (or maybe it's something that has changed along the betas).
Now, I wish there was a way to automatically re-embed all these items that got split up by the transition.
I can do it manually (open the lined item; download; re-open the original item; attach the file; remove the link; delete the item that was created and linked), but it requires a LOT of steps and is extremely tedious. I checked in my library and I have 93 such items that got split up this way.Corentin
