4 years agocan't ping anything except for the traffic light buttons through the macOS Accessibility
trying (again) the macOS beta of 1Password 8. i'm not able to ping anything through the macOS Accessibility, except for the three traffic light buttons. the rest is a big AXScrollArea. afaik, the answer is gonna be frightening but i have to ask: is there any plan—and any possibility—that you guys bring back the Accessibility that was available in the native 1Password 7? thanks.

Hi @godbout, just wanted to say that accessibility is something we value highly and an area we continually work to support.
For any future readers of this thread: if you encounter any accessibility issues with 1Password 8, please let us know and we will be happy to address it.

volts yes, this is because 1Password 7 is native UI and all the AX goodness comes out of the box.
1P_Rob thank you. i hope things will happen on this side because i do believe a lot of people are going to not be able to use 1P8 properly without AX features (definitely people with disabilities). thanks again.

Thanks for this feedback, @godbout, and I'm sorry for the delayed response. I've passed it on to our Mac team for review.

I just compared again too, 1Password 7 vs. 1Password 8. Yes, I agree with you. 1Password 7 is MUCH easier to navigate with accessibility tools, such as Switch Control.
1Password 8 is significantly harder to navigate with accessibility/assistance features.

btw no video for that one, but when i'm using the Accessibility Inspector, i clearly can't ping object individually. i just have a huge AXScrollArea that handle the whole app, except for the traffic lights.

1P_PeterG i'm building an app to click here and there around macOS through the keyboard. totally worked fine with 1Password 7 but doesn't work at all except for the usual close min max buttons. the app requires other apps to implement the macOS Accessibility. apps that use Electron as their core or for UI tend to not play very well with the Accessibility (made an app that brings Vim Mode to the whole macOS and it's been pretty horrendous to have an OK experience with Electron apps). anyways, hopefully i'm doing something wrong and you guys can guide me on that? thanks. here's a video below of the current state. pinging all the AX objects from frontmost window, of 1Password 7 and then 1Password 8.

volts that's be a great news. by pinging through the macOS Accessibility i meant using the macOS Accessibility API to get fields data.

Hi @godbout, thank you for the question. Can you let us know more about what you're trying to do? Does "ping" here refer to the Accessibility API on MacOS? Any information you can provide will be helpful - and we of course want to make sure that we're providing a robustly accessible offering across platforms. 👍
