Do I need Passkeys
Since I use 1Password? TIA
Hello dixiedregs! 👋
Thanks for the question! Passkeys are a modern alternative to passwords – they enable people to log in to their online accounts without having to enter a password. Passkeys are more secure than passwords, and 1Password aims to make them just as easy to use.
You can use 1Password to save and sign in with passkeys to the websites that you use by following the steps in this guide: Save and sign in with passkeys in your browser
You can read more about passkeys here: What are passkeys and how do they work?

Don't worry about appearing dumb, even in front of an audience of strangers. If you've made a decent effort to answer your own question, then please just ask, as you can be sure that you are not alone in wanting an answer to the question.
Since 1P_Dave has already pointed you to the resources you need in order to understand what passkeys are and how they are managed in 1Password so you can decide for yourself, I'll take your question literally and say that currently you do not need to use passkeys whether or not you use 1Password. That is to say that it's vanishingly unlikely that you will need access to a site or service which requires you use a passkey...
yet.
That's why now is the second best time to start using and getting comfortable with passkeys. Pick some non-critical (an not problematic) sites which you use, enable passkey identification and/or authentication, stay logged in, and test logging in using a Private or Incognito browser with the 1Password extension enabled.- dixiedregs3 months agoNew Contributor
