2 years agoExperiment #4 – New interface in 1Password.com’s vault view
Hi Folks!
Today we’re bringing you a beta version of a major update to the vault item view interface on 1Password.com. Our goal is to align the design with the main desktop application as well as improve our ability to introduce new features consistently across all of our platforms.
Unlike previous experimental features in labs, you are not required to manually enable this experiment, and it will not appear under the “Labs” tab in the 1Password apps. As this is an updated vault item view of our web interface, you can access it directly via this link.
At this time, the new interface provides a read-only version, which means it is limited in functionality compared to the current interface. We wanted to start testing as early as possible to identify any potential issues well in advance of a full rollout. Full functionality that aligns with the current vault item view interface will be gradually introduced over the next couple of months as we continue testing and developing.
The primary questions I'm trying to answer are:
1. Do you prefer this new interface over the old one?
2. Do you see value in us rolling out this new interface of the vault item view to all 1Password users?
3. Are you experiencing any performance issues?
4. How often do you use the vault item view in 1Password.com?
We are eager to hear what you think about this new web interface. Please share your feedback and thoughts below in the thread!

- Group and sort categories in the item list filter menu to match the desktop apps.
Feb 6
- Began supporting localization for the 12 languages already supported in the rest of the web app and other apps. There are some tasks remaining there.
- Maintain the last item list sort order throughout the app and across page reload.
- Show an alert popup when encountering unexpected errors, to hopefully avoid just showing a blank screen like norysang reported.
- Squashed some minor bugs.

No way to "edit" and I'll assume that is by design for now. Being able to move the column sizes (to the left and right) is GREAT and a much-welcomed improvement. It could be done with the desktop app, but (currently) cannot be done using 1PW in the tabs.

I have really large screens. In the beta version, the "copy" button is aaaaaaall the way to the right of the screen. In the current version, it's right next to the thing I need to copy, adjusting to the length of the text in that field.
In the beta version, I also cannot find a way to add new login information - but that might just be because it's beta.

"Do you prefer this new interface" - - NO. CATEGORIES.... I cannot understand why your developers are so opposed to showing the Categories item in a quick access location. Please keep the Categories choice upfront on the web version and the MacOS version. The iPad version of 1Password is almost unusable as it takes sooo much mousing around to find a particular log-in item. "Search" is not a good substitute since it requires additional typing - and it is not immediately displayed on every page as on most database programs

I personally think having the categories on the left bar would be way easier than having to select from a drop down at the top. This is a step back in my opinion

I definitely like it! It looks much cleaner. I use vault view on my work computer whenever I need to find creds that are not for a website or edit something. I can't install 1password desktop app cause it's a work issued machine.

I think I read the beta version is currently "read-only". Is this correct?
I am unable to edit a login using this interface. - qiaofxingNew Contributor
Hi, is it possible to provide a switch for theme switching? I prefer to use a bright coloured interface rather than dark colours.

I don't think logon entry fields for username and especially password need to stretch to the right edge of the browser window. As it is cursor has to be moved to the far right, which might be 15-20 inches to copy the password. Less unnecessary cursor movement is good.

I'm glad you finally took my advice and cleared search term which was a nuisance when changing groupings (i.e. All, Favorites, Tags) after search #TGB-34762-443

The original version works great. The new version doesn't add much for me -- but it's okay. (Sorry). The big issue I see is that I don't see a way to add new items with the new version. If there's a plus sign somewhere, I don't see it and it's not intuitive for me.
