Back with my update. So my question is could this be linked to the secret not getting released and destroyed or a new hash getting generated after a reset?
Reason for asking is because after turning off Face ID and Pin, 1password documentation states the secret gets destroyed. Yet after I reinstall the app it magically pulls up a login page without me having to enter my Secret Key.
This behavior is concerning. The app should be asking me to re-enter my full secret again if it is infact a complete cleanup and deletion of the app via way of deleting the app, turning off Face ID and passcode, restarting phone and reinstalling the app.
May not seem related but it kind of is. If appears 1password stops properly communicating with the FaceID subsystem after a reset of settings but fails to re-establish a new ground up connection. Not sure if this is related somehow to a feature for better end user security. Or if this is hard baked into the app. Regardless, for now I guess I’ll go back to 1Password 7 and hope this issue doesn’t exist there. I’ll also be regenerating my secret key and changing password just incase this bug is leaving the data vulnerable.
The "find" tool is what I'm looking for, but why is it now hidden behind a menu item, rather than a search bar being part of the interface.
I'm glad the find tool functionality wasn't completely removed, but I don't understand why they decided to hide it away, as it's leading to a lot of "update shock" for existing users.

Thank you for the additional details. It sounds like using the Find tool rather than the Search tool might be what you're looking for. Try these steps:
- Open and unlock 1Password 8.
- Click on a vault in the sidebar.
- Click Edit > Find or use Option-Command-F.
- Search using the Find field at the top of the list rather than the Search field.
Let me know if that gives you more of the behaviour that you're looking for.

Thank you for the prompt reply. I wasn't seeing any of the followup posts (in any of the posts). 1Blocker "Block Comments" was the culprit.
I just tried the Collections, but it simply adds more to the list in the first column, so now I have two entries for each client, the original vault, and the collection. Confusing. Collections could be of use in some instances, but not this one.
I'll use CMD-F for now, but what I would love to see, and what I think is the most intuitive is to search only in the vault or vaults that are currently active, i.e. selected in the 1st column.
If I select an account at the top of the left column, it shows results for all vaults in that account. Search should only give results from vaults in that account.
If I select a single vault, search should only give results from that vault.
If I select All Accounts, search should give results from all accounts.
I also miss the simple search results of 1P7, where it limits the list as I type, rather than the extra step of scrolling down to the bottom of the search results, or typing CMD-RETURN.

Thank you for adding your voice. I outlined two different ways that you can search a specific vault using 1Password 8. Can you tell me if both of those methods aren't working for you? If they aren't giving you the results that you're looking for then can you tell me a little more about what you would like to see in the app?
I look forward to hearing from you. 🙂

Same issue. I have over 20 vaults for the business clients that I manage. When 1P8 come out, I installed it, was extremely frustrated, and reverted to 1P7. Since I'm installing the latest version on my client's computers, I thought it best that I be familiar with the latest version. I'm still deeply perplexed why the company thought it was OK to greatly reduce functionality rather than improving. This search issue is just one.
Hello @paulcivitas! 👋
Good question! The best way to restrict search to a single vault, or to a group of vaults, is to create a collection. Collections allow you to specify which vaults and items you see and search so that you can exclude the vaults you don't need during your regular day: Use collections to create custom groups of vaults
You can also follow these steps to quickly search a vault:
- Open and unlock 1Password 8.
- Click on the vault that you'd like to search in the sidebar.
- Press Command-F to filter the search to that vault.
I hope that helps!
