Feature Request: Assign different browsers for different Login items
I use my 1password for my personal and work. With my work, I have accounts and URL for customer domains that I access on occasion. I always need to access a domain using incognito windows and would love to be able to be able to set the open and fill to open an incognito window by default.
Hello EHvuDuZNjAQXfkie! 👋
Thank you for explaining your use case! This isn't currently a feature in 1Password but I can definitely see how it would be useful in your case. I've filed a feature request with our product team to have them look into adding such a feature in the future.
For the time being here are some suggestions:
- You can install 1Password in the browser and launch the website from 1Password's popover window in the browser instead of from the desktop app.
- You can try using a third-party app (I know some people on macOS use an app called Choosy) to direct webpages to open in a specific browser.
Thank you for the feedback!-Dave

I'd find it useful if 1P had some mechanism to let me select a specific browser to be launched for an item when doing "Open and Fill".
I use one browser (Brave) for all my routine browsing, and another (Safari) for special things like banking and also for some sites that don't play well with Brave. I have different security configurations on each, re saving cookies, syncing to phone, JavaScript, etc.
It would be lovely if I could configure "Open this with Safari" for the small number of special sites.

I use Chrome as my default browser. However, there are a few of my websites that don't work properly in Chrome. I have to copy the website URL and then paste it into Edge to get thru the 1Password signon process. I realize this is an issue with the website, since they SHOULD work regardless of the browser, but my work-around is a pain.
It would be great if there were a way to specify in the Login info that a non-default browser be used for certain websites.

Hello EricG! 👋
Thanks for the feedback! As you've noted, 1Password will respect your choice of default browser and open all links there. That being said, I can see how it would be useful to be able to select different browsers for different items and I've filed a feature request on your behalf to let the team know that you'd find this feature useful.
For the time being, there are third-party apps that might give you the functionality that you're looking for. For example, if you're using macOS then there's an app called Choosy that some folks use. I can't vouch for the app myself but I wanted to mention it in case it helps.

I would also find per-secret browser selection useful and the icing on the cake that would assist in troubleshooting sites would be the ability to also toggle the browser selection for a specific secret as regular mode or private/incognito mode. This can be extremely useful when trying to debug if cache/cookies are an issue.

Something that Iw ould like to see in 1Password.
I have plenty of passwords but some of them I just use in one browser and others, in another browser due the configs differences between them.
I would like to see a feature where I can tell the 1Password should use and/or provide a specific password for that browser.
IMHO will be something nice to have.

Which OS do you use? It may be possible with Choosy (a browser chooser) or another browser chooser if you're using macOS.
