  • Hi @Olympian, thanks for your response!

I can absolutely understand how the current differences in search implementation could get quite confusing. This is something our product team have received quite a bit of feedback about, so improving and unifying the search function across 1Password is definitely on our radar. I've shared your feedback with our product team as well, including all of the information you've included here.

In the meantime, you may find our support guide for searching the 1Password 8 apps helpful:

Dave, thanks for coming back to me. I am currently using the latest Firefox and PC Desktop apps. Search is incomplete and different in both. One will find a phrase separated by a dot (eg an email address) one will search for a password, one will search in Secure Notes, the other will not. It seems to me that for non-technical users the only obvious implementation is for all 1P apps to search for any word or phrase EXACTLY in the entire vault. The Find feature was not apparent to me until I read about it in this forum. I guess that it's a work around?
It's only a decent search facility that makes my 650 logins and notes usable.
Rant over - thanks for helping me to organise and secure my data for several years now.

  • Hello @Olympian! 👋

I've split your comment into a new thread. I'm sorry that you and your partner are having trouble with search in 1Password 8. Can you tell me a little more about the particular issue that you're running into? Are you also searching for an email address with a period in it like the other user? Or are you running into trouble with other search terms?

I look forward to hearing from you. 🙂

I'm really disappointed in Ver8. Fundamental features such as Search should just match something simple like 'this.that' Yet the Firefox version works as expected. I understand the problem and I can use the (invisible) Find work-around but my poor partner was struggling with Ver 7 and this is not helping... Frustrated.
