Improve search in 1password8 (app and mini)
Hi,
I may be wrong but currently search in 1password8 only works for title.
In 1password7 we had the option to search in every fields.
Also, we can't search items by uuid.
Hope the feature will be back quickly to 1password8.
Keep the good work, 1 password8 is outstanding for an electron base application !

Thank you adamcadamc.
1Password8 feels like the braintrust has exited the building.
If you are searching for something the OBVIOUS default is ALL MATCHING ITEMS, filtering the results should be the option.
Pardon my french, but the Australian in me keeps feeling that 1Password8 is arse backward in many areas. It seems since 1Password moved from a discrete app to this shared world, basic logical constructs have been lost.
as an addendum:
The fact that you can create a a family is terrific, and , to be honest, I was glad to be able to share, what I've always considered to be the ultimate password storage app with my family. Yet, I can't set my own personal vault, migrated through various iterations since 1Password3, as my own default. When I right mouse click it, it tells me I can't edit this vault. Really, I own the damn account.
I can, though, set any one of the other accounts created for family as my default. - mickaelDedicated Contributor
totally agree with the previous message. I just discovered cmd/return and it's better, but the previous version handle search in a better way.

Hello, love 1Password and have been using it for years (and have deployed it at my business). The way search works in 1Password8 is a step back in functionality in my opinion. When you type in the search bar, matching items should automatically just be filtered in the main window's results list to show all matching items (prior to having to hit ââŠī¸). I feel like the additional step, while admittedly minor, is a royal PITA when you have a lot of credentials and are searching regularly. It's extra steps, and the less clicks/inputs required to get to an end result the better. I don't really understand why the main window doesn't just filter like it used to - seems like requiring the ââŠī¸ step is fairly redundant. The shorter list that drops down from from the search bar as you type is not effective if you have more hits than the 8 items it shows - then to get to all the actual matching items, you need to hit ââŠī¸ - where if the window just filtered in real time the results would be there without additional input.
Hope that makes sense. I don't think the previous search functionality was necessarily broken, surprised to see it change in a way that requires more user input.
Also, I searched the forum for threads regarding this, and this seemed to be the most appropriate place for it ("improved search"), even if it is not necessarily in line with the original post. Apologies if this should be in a new thread all together.

Quick little update: I was able to land a change making search return exact (case insensitive) matches of an id. This is already live in the latest nightly build and should hopefully be in the next beta build.
Thanks again for the great ideas!

Thanks for the great feedback everyone! I myself hope to soon see Uuid search in particular.
I wanted to add to what PeterG_1P mentioned above about wanting to improve the Quick search and Quick access behaviour. In the meantime, you should be able to get full field searches in the full search feature if it's convenient to your workflow. You can do so by clicking "Show all matching items" or pressing ââŠī¸ in the main window's search bar.

+1 we need search in every field. often the difference between accounts is a small field or a note. e.g. imagine having many clients on lets say AWS. for each client there are several login items for administration, backup, and other roles. most names have AWS, client name and role in the name. however this can repeat as there might be mutliple accounts per client (customer). search in other fields is necessary for faster access and not wasting time to scroll in the similarly named options that are even not shown completely which makes mini search unusable in v8.

Hello mickael, thanks for the question, and the kind words about the app too.
Currently 1Password 8 should be able to search more than titles, including:
- The contents of Secure Notes
- URLs in an item
- passwords in an item
but we are also working to enhance the overall search functionality as well. đ
And I have just added a feature request to our developers for the ability to search by UUID. Thank you for the suggestion! Let me know if there's anything we can do to help from here - I'll be happy to assist.
