As for contingency planning and disaster scenarios, it's fun but very difficult to identify and prioritise actual threats. I like the "Someone signed in to ... from ..." type emails which many services, including 1Password, send, which should address some of your concern about trusted parties using access unexpectedly.
It sounds like you've taken steps to Implement a recovery plan for your family, but you might consider if other members of the family can be trusted as organisers (or some other future suitably privileged role) in case you and your wife both become unable to fulfil the role.
