Support for macOS AutoFill isn't currently available since our team has historically focused on our two existing filling methods: 


That being said, our team is exploring support for macOS AutoFill but I don't have any news to share at the moment. 


the problem is some websites disable copy and paste passwords and I find it tedious to manually type passwords in so I resort to the right click autofill menu.

1Password doesn't use copy and paste to fill passwords, can you tell me which website filling doesn't work on and which browser you're using? I look forward to hearing from you.

I'm aware that 1Password doesn't use copy and paste to fill passwords. That's why the autofill works when needed.

Yesterday I wanted to sign up to the BLS International website, and normally, what I'd do is create a login first. I don't like having the extension create the login for me (long story short, I'm very particular). Anyways, when the site asks me to create a password, I usually just copy and paste it in, but it doesn't allow me, because the form disables copy and paste!

So in this situation, especially on the iOS devices, I use the iOS autofill to bypass that restriction, but autofill isn't supported on macOS, so I end up having to create a new generated password and the copy and paste it back into the login item.

This feature is useful because 1Password wants to take over the entire experience with Universal Autofill and sometimes it can't and does things in the wrong way. This at least helps me retain control in exactly what I want to paste in, just like how it works in iOS.

    Thank you for explaining your use case. Can you tell me a little more about why you avoid having 1Password for Safari create the Login for you? Being able to create a login right on a webpage is one of the primary functions that folks use 1Password for and I'd love to know more about your workflow. 

    This feature is useful because 1Password wants to take over the entire experience with Universal Autofill and sometimes it can't and does things in the wrong way. 

    Universal Autofill is only triggered when you press Command-Backslash. Can you clarify what you mean by "take over the entire experience"?

      For short, the login names and URL isn't always accurate. So I tend to name the login item myself, and dig for the login link, where 1Password would detect the login form and autofill it.

      What I mean with Universal Autofill, is it's not able to accurately fill in what I want at times. Like if I want a particular password, how would Universal Autofill know that? What if the form wasn't a standard username/password field?

      I'm not saying to give up on Universal Autofill, automation is a great feature to have. However, when it comes to these picky actions, I can't expect the devs to build edge cases for them all.

        Thank you for the reply. When you save a login using 1Password on a webpage, 1Password will save the current URL of the page. I can see how 1Password being smarter about finding the login URL would be a useful feature and I've passed that along to the team.

        Universal Autofill will offer to fill login credentials on a webpage as long as the website URL (the domain) matches the domain of the current page that you're on. Universal Autofill uses our filling brain to detect the username and password field on a page. 

        macOS AutoFill works in much the same way, it'll offer to fill a password field as long as the saved login item matches the website URL. If it doesn't then you'll need to search for the login item manually. 

        Thank you for the feedback, I've shared all of your comments internally. I did want to suggest that perhaps dragging and dropping login credentials from 1Password might work on websites that restrict copy and paste: Use drag and drop to fill in apps
