New to 1Password - Unable to get Yubi key to work

After several tries I got a Yubi key installed. Then I tried to install a backup key. I was unable to get that installed. I kept getting a message saying "Two-Factor Authentication" "Our Family" "Your Changes won't be available on other devices until you verify with your security key." I tried touching the key but nothing happened, took it out and put it back, nothing. I finally turned off 2FA. Looked at support notes, tried to do account recovery. Selected myself, then Begin recovery, got message: "Unable to complete action." "Cannot handle request (110). Error Code 110. What do I do now?

How do I turn on 2FA once it has been turned off?

I added a YubiKey 5C Nano as a 2FA in 1Password. It accepted it. It is a Mac desktop. After installing, I could not get it to work. I tried several different things - no luck. I decided to turn off 2FA and start over. It wouldn't let me turn the 2FA back on. From looking at the Support pages I didn't see any solution but to "recover."

  • Hello Brian! 👋

I'm sorry that you're running into issues with your security key and account recovery. So that I can better understand the situation can you tell me the following:

    1. What kind of security key are you trying to add to your 1Password account?
    2. On what device were you trying to use the security key? Was it with the 1Password desktop app on your Mac?
    3. Can you clarify why you're attempting to do an account recovery of your own account? Account recovery is there in case one of your family members is locked out and needs your help to recovery access to their account.

I look forward to hearing from you.
