New to passkeys for 1password
Hello Leahperso! 👋
I'm sorry that you're not being prompted to save passkeys in 1Password. As a first step make sure that you've installed 1Password in Chrome: Download 1Password for Your Browser
Then follow these steps:
- Open your browser.
- Right-click on the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar and click Settings.
- Make sure that "Make 1Password the default password manager in this browser" is turned on.
- Click Autofill & save.
- Make sure that "Offer to fill and save passwords" and "Offer to save and sign in with passkeys" are both turned on.
Once that's done, follow these steps to turn off the built-in password manager: Turn off the built-in password manager in your browser
Also, is there a way to shift older passkeys from Google passkeys already saved in the chrome browser or mac keychain?
There isn't currently a way to transfer passkeys from one password manager to another and we're working with industry partners to create such a tool. For the time being, you'll need to sign into the services in question, remove the saved passkey from both the website and from your previous password manager, and then save a new passkey in 1Password: Save and sign in with passkeys in your browser
