On Arch Linux, using system authentication fails
I just got Howdy working and I love it. When I was still configuring, I remember 1Password working with it. Whether I remember wrong or not, it currently does not work.
When I lock 1Password, try to log in again, and click the fingerprint button, this is what I get:
It appears for much less than a second. There is no time to enter anything, and the whole thing is disabled anyway.
I looked for the documentation for all the configuration files I could find and, so far, I've seen nothing useful. I tried unselecting and reselecting "Use system authentication." I tried deleting the app and its cache, log in again and downloaded my profile again. The problem persists. I just tried it again as I was typing this and it still refuses to accept authentication from PAM.
My guess is that it's a configuration problem with PAM. I'm really not an expert when it comes to PAM. My attitude to security is usually: "Keep the default settings. They're most likely the best compromise between safety and usefulness that I'm going to get. If I change something, I'll either open the system up to things that shouldn't have access to it or lock things up so much that using the OS will become hugely frustrating." So I usually don't touch PAM, unless I'm blindly following instructions. That's how I got Howdy working.
And Howdy does work. When I need to sudo, the command prompt says it's attempting facial authentication and lets me in. Once, the webcam had fallen off the screen and it failed. That's proof enough for me that it works.
My understanding is that, the way PAM works, anything that requires authentication asks PAM, PAM then figures out what among its authentication methods it should use. It looks like 1Password is asking for facial identification to PAM, and I know that PAM can use it. So I have no idea of where to go from there.
I looked at the logs. Here's what I get when I try to authenticate with facial authentication:

zwhuzgthrbkadedwfjmyi, item: 7s2rzkwapjwi2yuyzllypbf5vu }I see "item with path not found." I don't know what it means. What kind of item? What does the path relate to? That path does not exist on my computer. Plus, it's for a Rust file, so it most likely refers to line of code in the source where the error occurs, not to anything I can find on my computer.
As you can (hopefully) see, I really did try to figure out on my own, but I think I do need help.
Thanks to anyone who can help.
