OpenAI.com OPT autofill
I have my openai (chatgpt login) saved in 1pass as I sign in with google ... I also have my OTP code on that same entry but I can't get auto-complete or the 1pass dropdown to fill in the OTP.
1Password Version: Not Provided
Extension Version: 8.10.46.26
OS Version: 14.6.1 (23G93)
Browser: firefox
Thank you for following up. I've checked and the work item to fix an issue where the one-time password won't fill if you're using "sign-in with" is still open with our development team to be fixed in the future. I'm sorry for the continued inconvenience.
For the time being, you can workaround the issue by adding your email address to the username field in the Login item for OpenAI.com. Then try to fill your one-time password again.

Hello tb582! 👋
Thank you for reporting the issue. It looks like our team has been able to intermittently reproduce this on our end and an internal work item is open with the development team to get this fixed in a future update to 1Password. For the time being, you can copy your one-time password from 1Password and paste it into the field on the page.
To help us get this fixed, could you please send the page structure of the webpage in question to our support team? Follow these steps:
- Open the website in question until you can see the 2FA field that you're referring to.
- Right-click on the page and click "1Password - Password Manager" > Help > Collect Page Structure.
Attach the resulting JSON file to an email message addressed to
support+forum@1password.com.With your email please include:
- A link to this thread: https://1password.community/discussion/148624/openai-com-opt-autofill#latest
- Your forum username: tb582
- A link to the affected webpage.
- Please do not post the file here on the forum.
You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number. Please post that number here. Thanks very much!

Hi, I have the same problem. Is this actively being worked on ?

Just adding one more workaround that fixed this for me on iPhone/iPad with ChatGPT/OpenAI OTP autofill.
My setup used ChatGPT/OpenAI login with “Continue with Apple” and MFA/OTP stored in 1Password.
The problem:
I could sign in with “Continue with Apple” / Face ID.
But when I reached the OTP/MFA code screen, tapping the OTP field did not show the correct 1Password item.
1Password would not automatically fill the one-time password.
What fixed it for me:
In Safari, I tapped the extension icon in the address bar and allowed 1Password to run on the site.
Then I opened the relevant ChatGPT/OpenAI login item in 1Password and added this website to the same item:
https://auth.openai.com
I also kept these websites in the same item:
https://chatgpt.com
https://openai.com
After adding https://auth.openai.com, OTP autofill started working properly. When the OTP screen appeared, 1Password recognized the correct item and filled the OTP automatically.
My guess is that the ChatGPT/OpenAI login flow can jump between different domains during authentication, especially when using “Continue with Apple.” If the 1Password item only has chatgpt.com or openai.com, 1Password may not match the OTP screen because the actual MFA page may be under auth.openai.com.
1Password may also offer to add/update a “Sign in with Apple” field. That seems normal. I ended up with duplicate “Sign in with Apple” entries, which is annoying, but I did not delete anything once login was working consistently.
Hope this helps other casual users who are stuck wondering why OTP autofill works on some sites but not ChatGPT/OpenAI.
