Passkeys more to come?

I have been using the beta Edge extension and adding Passkeys to different websites. But, unless I am not understanding, using Passkeys with 1password is missing features that come native to iCloud Keychain.

First is using passkeys in iOS. It looks like that may be coming with iOS 17 based on an announcement at WWDC and a blog post here. Is there currently any way to login with a passkey on a iOS device?

Second question. One of the feature that is promoted is logging in to a passkey protected website by scanning a QR code on another device, like an iPhone. Is this something that can/will work with 1Password?

Unfortunately, until passkeys can be used on all devices, a backup, less secure, method of login will have to be kept as a backup.

a password manager stores your passwords, 1P does this well

password managers also (now and more to come) store your passkeys. Its a choice where you want to store your passwords and passkeys. The only experiance difference is that a password you can in principle write down yourself on whatever medium you like (ideally a secure one) and a passkey really needs a proper secure platform and you cant write it down on a bit of paper unlike a password

The password manager is nothing more thana secure store - maybe it should be renamed a pass manager? and maybe now 1pass instead of 1password? it would reduce confusion

Just a question - maybe to start a dialogue - I am trying to figure out where a password manager fits in when all websites use passkeys to log in. Will 1Password be needed then?

    Just trying to understand.

    Thanks.
