Password generator in 1Password 8 Quick Access

I have just updated to 1Password 8 and I am very happy about it :)
One small annoyance I found is the missing password generator -- previously I could click on the menubar icon and there ...

if I understand correctly, the idea is that, when creating a new account, 1password will suggest a password automatically; the problem is, there's no way to trigger that action if it doesn't trigger itself (and it often doesn't) and there's no way to change details about the password (like adding digits, or removing certain characters)
