Quandry: I bought 1PW Forever Version but That Fails

I have thinking for a good while now that in spite of my judicious, careful decision making, I bought 1Password 7 as a lifetime product, and my thinking was that by investing upfront in the forever software, I would be smart. I have always been a 1PW fanboy, believing it offered huge value to my wife and I with our Mac computers and iOS items, seamlessly working together.

Unfortunately, 1pw chose to move to a subscription model, and I have been left in the dust. 1PW7 only works on Safari and fails on Chrome. It still works on iOS. On one hand, I that 1pw was not honest with me, and they have chosen the big revenue direction. On the other hand, maybe I should forgive them since software does evolve.

I'm interested in your thoughts on what I should do. Can two people share a single $2.99 monthly membership? We don't want two vaults: since we generally share a single password for websites like Amazon, a single membership is better than two.

  • Hello elasticmedia! 👋

Thank you for being with 1Password for so many years, we really appreciate your long-time support. I wanted to let you know that 1Password 7 is no longer supported and hasn’t received updates for quite some time. Your license still allows you to continue using it on your device, but as Apple releases newer updates, there’s a chance the app may stop working as expected since it’s no longer being maintained and updated for new versions of macOS/iOS.

I recommend upgrading to 1Password 8 so that you can take advantage of the latest and greatest version of 1Password: Upgrade to 1Password 8

A 1Password membership entitles you to use 1Password on as many devices as you'd like. You would see all of your vaults and items on all of the devices that you add 1Password to as would someone else who uses those devices and knows your account password.

Since you have a license for 1Password 7 I recommend sending our support team an email with your license information so that they can see what promotions currently exist that may apply to you. You can send an email to support@1Password.com and include a link to this thread. After emailing in, you'll receive an automated reply with a Support ID. Post that here, and I'll be able to locate your message and make sure it's gotten to the right place.
