Safari Extension, barely usable

It seems like I have been fighting with 1Password's Safari extension forever.  Once again it seems that the extension stops working when a browser window has been open too long ("too long" not being definable).  This means that I go from a state that allows me to use 1Password to one where the extension will not open, in any way shape or form.  But I do click on the little icons several times until I hit the point where I am ready to throw the app away.  

Does the extension work better in other browsers (I'm willing to try Firefox or Orion)?  

Is this a problem in the extension or is it the result of something Apple has done?  I am happy to file a ticket with Apple.
