Safari extension not functioning

I've engaged support 3-4 times since v8 shipped to attempt to get the Safari 1Password plug-in to work as expected. Since v8 shipped I've relied on universal auto fill to use 1Password in Safa...
Came over to the community forums to see if anyone else was currently having a subpar experience with 1Password in Safari and found this thread. I don't have much to add other than "me too". I use 1Password with Safari and with Chrome and the experience with Safari is orders of magnitude worse than in Chrome, where it pretty much "just works".
I don't know if other folks are constantly shutting down their Mac, quitting Safari, etc. and when they go to use it, it's always "freshly started" - which is when things tend to work quite well, but beyond that, things fall apart quite quickly. The extension can't talk w/ 1Password (even though Settings shows a green bubble), it sometimes reports a problem and offers to "reload 1password" - but that rarely if ever works. The workarounds that work are
1) toggling "Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app" off/on from the extension settings
2) restarting Safari
unfortunately, since these situations arise many, many times a day, the utility of having 1Password integrated w/ autofill and what not, is completely gone since using these workarounds take vastly more time and effort than just using the 1Password desktop app directly ... or switching over to Chrome and losing the significant privacy protections that Safari offers.
