Search is not really usable

It might be that I am not doing it right, but for me the search is on Mac is not up to 1Passwords usual standards.

When I search for something like =category:logins I get no result, because search is case sensitive. So far so understandable. BUT the search box is being emptied (which is not useful under any circumstances IMHO because I can't simply modify my search string) so I can't correct a typo.
Even worse, under the search box it says now 'No results for "=category:logins"' and I even cant copy my search string, because 1Password won't let me.

If I do something wrong, please let me know.

Ah, one more thing: Autocompletion would be great here, so when I enter "=" it would be great to have the system suggest what I could enter.

Otherwise great product which I use for years now in office and for my family. It is essential for me. :)

I completely understand your thoughts about the beta. I expect that the category case sensitivity fix will be included in a future update to the Production version of 1Password for Mac soon if you prefer to wait for that. 🙂

  • Hello Wombel! 👋

I'm sorry that search filters aren't working properly, the team appreciates the feedback. A fix to make sure that category search filters are case insensitive is up in the latest beta version of 1Password for Mac and hopefully will be available in the stable version soon. If you'd like to test the beta then you can follow these steps: Use 1Password beta releases

BUT the search box is being emptied (which is not useful under any circumstances IMHO because I can't simply modify my search string) so I can't correct a typo.

You can see the search filters you were previously using when you press Command-F in the search result lists. Let me know if that doesn't work for you.

Ah, one more thing: Autocompletion would be great here, so when I enter "=" it would be great to have the system suggest what I could enter.

That's a good idea! While I can't make any promises, I've filed a feature request on your behalf.

Thank you for the kind words. I'm happy that 1Password provides value for both you and your family, I'll share your comment with the team internally. 💙

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for your reply. I did not know about the Command-F option but it definitely makes life easier for me.

Looking forward to the beta. Although I try a lot of betas of other products, I am always a bit reluctant to do this with 1Password as it is so central to my day that I am always a bit afraid a beta might break something for me.

    Have a great day.

    Kind regards
    Thomas
